Pigman Long Course - 2012

Pigman Long Course

Another strong showing for our club at the Pigman Triathlon on August 19 in Palo, IA.  This year the race added an Olympic distance tri as well, but we only had members in the long course.

Duluth Half Iron

;

     The inaugural Duluth Half Iron Triathlon was held August 18th 2012.  It was a small field, but a fast one. The timing of this race makes it a great candidate for an Ironman Wisconsin prep race, and four of our five members competing were doing just that. The fifth? Well, apparently she was there for an overall win. Nice job Ann! The rest of you certainly meant business too.  Way to go!

Summer Time Trials

Week 3 of our summer time trial series is in the books and it was a great night.  The results are available now on the TT page.  It has been quite a fast series so far.  We had a new course record last week and two more this week.  On the men's side, a belated congratulations to Al with a time of 43:57 last week and to Joe lowering that record tonight to 43:52.  On the women's side, Congratulations to Ruth smashing the record with a 47:56.

We've got one more TT in the series..... THE HILL TT.... next week.

Waseca Sprint and 1/3 2012

The heat at Waseca last year was enough to keep some people away from this awesome small-town race. Waseca offers both a sprint and a unique 1/3 Iron distance race. The long course is the brainchild of Bill Nevala, the creator of the Waseca triathlon. Bill believed that the step from the Olympic distance to a Half Iron was a big leap (it is!) and added a stepping stone race with the 1/3 Iron at Waseca. For this year, we were served up much better conditions: temps in the 60s, cloudy with an intermittent mist). Nice job to all of our club members who completed this race!

Chisago Lakes Triathlon - July 22nd, 2012

It was a bit of a tough day for the Chisago Lakes Sprint and Half Iron Triathlon and there were a fair number of DNF's to go along with it, but it certainly could have been a lot worse.  We did have good cloud cover for the swim making sighting a little easier and this year we did not have the fog from last year which was a huge help.  There was a mix of sun and clouds on the bike, but for all but the fastest of those doing the half, the sun was out in earnest for at least part of the run.
The club was well represented at the race with strong first time half iron finishers, solid PR's, and some fantastic overall placings.  To top it all off, we the grills going and a post-race picnic at the TriRochester tent.  Nice job everyone!  Here are the club results:

Rev3 Wisconsin Dells

The innagural Rev3 Half and Olympic Tri in the Wisconsin Dells was on August 12th, 2012.  Five members were there for the Half Iron Tri.  it was a really nice day for racing and a cool venue.  The swim start was at the Tommy Bartlett water ski show venue and the finish was at Noah's Ark water park.  Between those points was a challenging course of sharp turns and steep hills.

Lakefront Days Tri

A small contingent of TriRochester members participated in the Lakefront Days Sprint Triathlon in Prior Lake, MN on August 4th, 2012.  This is a 0.25 mile swim, 13.5 mile bike, and 3.3 mile run race with a nice relaxed atmosphere.  As a spectator, one of the best parts of the race was that they had a DJ  keeping the energy up and doing a great job announcing.  It was a pretty good day for racing -- cool-ish, with cloudy skies, but almost no rain during the race.  Congrats to Dawn, Kristina, and Pattie on their race.

TNTs - Done for the season

Our Thursday Night Tris (TNTs) are done for the season.  Attendance has dropped significantly and we also have the Summer Time Trials in August on Tuesdays.  Those who participated last week were told it was the last official TNT.
